BUILDING A BETTER RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN YOUR BODY & MIND

Building a Better Relationship Between Your Body & Mind:

In order to keep your mind and body at their absolute best, you should make sure that the relationship between the two is as strong as can be. Have you ever started a workout but your heart wasn't in it? Did your mind keep pressing negative thoughts and doubts your way that eventually made you either half-ass your workout or stop altogether? If so, your mind and body are not connected in a healthy relationship at all.
Below is a list of tips that will help you get back on track to a better you, and will give you the encouragement and energy you need to get through your next big workout, or Hell Camp! (Looking at you Summerville!)

Tips to a better relationship between your mind and body:
  1. Find your favorite hobby and indulge it. If you have a passion on the side for baking, painting, running, yoga,  blogging, you name it, take time in your day to focus on that outside of your work schedule. It's important to break the norms we tend to put into place for ourselves, and there's nothing wrong with a hobby that builds your self-esteem, energy, or pride.
  2. Find happiness and laughter! Laughing actually speeds up your metabolism and of course, lifts your mood.  Looking on the positive side of things and finding joy in the everyday will keep your head and energy up!
  3. Surround yourself with supporting personalities. Spending time with people who share your passions, drives, and interests is a great way to find energy to work through the day. Plus, doing so will lift your mood because you won't be alone.
  4. Be thankful. Think about the many things you are thankful for or fortunate to have or do. Sometimes a mini-reality-check helps recognize our focus and what we are truly thankful for in our lives.
  5. Take care of your body. Your body is the only place you have to live, and it can do amazing things! Even if you haven't reached your goal's yet in a fitness sense, you can still take care of yourself so that you eventually do. Even one single step forward counts in your battle to your goals!
  6. You don't need to be perfect, release the need to be. We are human and no one will ever be absolutely perfect. If you are too hard on yourself, your mental state will suffer and sway you from pushing in your next workout. Be gentle with yourself and keep trying. If you take a step backwards or fail, what's important is that you get back up again.
  7. Make time for YOU. Similar to finding time for a hobby, you need to take time for you personally. Find something to ease the pressures of the day and make it yours.
  8. Be kind to yourself and others. Spreading kindness and encouragement around will not only help others, but will keep your spirits up as well!
  9. Don't judge. Everyone is working towards a goal and fighting a hidden battle. If you have the opportunity to show support, do so and you might make it easier for them!
  10. BREATHE. Breathe during workout, breathe during the day, breathe, breathe, breathe! You'll get so much energy and sustainability during workouts by making sure to focus on your breathing pattern. Breathing incorrectly could result in you passing out or running out of energy entirely and that will cut your workouts shorter than you intend!
